Four hands are better than two

First Strip    Previous Strip    Next Strip    Latest Strip

We had tryouts at the beginning of February to see who was actually going to draw and this was the best of my attempts. The last frame only. The story behind my drawing (I actually did a full comic but we decided on just losing the last frame) is how frustrating it is for a 'veteran' gamer to go up against a 'newbie'. We have all experienced this and it has been lovingly called as the All-Except-Noob-Saibot law or the AENS (pronounced INES) law.

Without a doubt, button mashing goes much farther in most games than people like to think. Each and every gamer prefers to think that his game of choice requires skill to perform when it mostly comes down to how fast can you press the 'A' button. What about Noob Saibot though? Why is he mentioned? Well, AENS syndrome takes effect in 90%+ of all the games out there, but the only one it doesn't happen in is in Mortal Kombat when you are playing with Noob Saibot. His array of shadow moves and dodges make him impossible to beat as long as the chimpanzee next to you remembers to press down and low kick at the right time.

So, the AENS law has caused me much grief and I thought, even in my rudimentary and crude drawing, I could at least show a little bit of my dislike.

  2. What can I say? It doesn't matter what you do against him. You still lose.

  3. Notice how the veteran gamer is banished to the "seat of dejection", which realigns your spine to permanent disgust.
