This is the method I use to get a lot of my friends to try D&D with me. Of course, AJ and Toby were the ones that did this to me, so I guess it's tradition now. The conversation usually goes something like this:

Friend: "I like RPG's on the computer, they're fun and exciting."
Me: "You should try pencil and paper RPG's then."
Friend: "Cool! What is it called?"
Me: "Dungeons and Dragons."
Friend: "EEEEEW!!!!! That's for nerds."

I'm sorry for writing that, it seemed far wittier in my head. Anyways, soon after they say that's for nerds, I pour some concoction down his throat and VOILA he's ready to play. Though if he's Toby, he'll play a girl. I think the concoction had too many soybeans in it.
